Safeguarding Pebsham

How do we keep Pebsham Safe?

Pebsham Primary Academy believes that all Staff and Volunteers should provide a caring, positive, safe and stimulating environment that promotes the social, physical and moral development of every child.   We are fully committed to ensuring that consistent, effective safeguarding procedures are in place to support families, children and staff at our school.

All of our Governors and our Staff at Pebsham share the objective to help keep the children safe by contributing to:

  • Providing a safe environment for them to learn;

  • Identifying children who are suffering or likely to suffer significant harm and taking appropriate action with the aim of making sure that they are kept safe both at home and in the education setting.

 To achieve this, we:

  • Aim to prevent unsuitable people from working with the children;

  • Promote safe practice and challenge any poor or unsafe practice ;

  • Identify instances where there are grounds for concern about a child’s welfare and initiate or take appropriate action to keep them safe;

  • Contribute to effective partnership working between all those involved in providing services for our children.

 We have a dedicated Safeguarding email address that alerts a DSL of your concerns:  fish@pebsham-tkat.org.

Operation Encompass

The school is part of Operation Encompass, an operation that is run with local schools and the Police.

Operation Encompass has been designed to provide early reporting to schools / colleges of any domestic abuse incidents that occur in which a child was present, ordinarily resides at the incident location or with an involved party. We know that children can be significantly affected through witnessing or being exposed to domestic abuse and this operation will allow us to better support our pupils and their families.

A nominated member of staff, known as a Key Adult, will be trained to support following a referral.   At Pebsham Primary Academy our Key Adult is the Designated Safeguarding lead, Gemma Jessup.  The Key Adult will be able to use information that has been shared, in confidence, to ensure that the right support is available should it be required by a child and / or their family.

At Pebsham Primary Academy, we are keen to offer the best support available to our pupils and we believe this is extremely beneficial for all those involved.

If you have any concerns or questions then please contact the school to discuss this further.
